This is how to make a strawberry banana smoothie with just a handful of simple ingredients. The smoothie is creamy, refreshing, and lightly sweet. It's gluten free, dairy free, and has no added sugar.

The creamiest strawberry banana smoothie

When I make a smoothie, I am looking for a couple of things right off the bat:

  1. A balance in sweetness
  2. A certain texture or level of creaminess
  3. I want it to be refreshing

This strawberry banana smoothie is just that. It's made with a handful of ingredients with the option to add-in some bonus ingredients to really elevate things.

If you'd like to make it more filling, you can add in collagen peptides for protein and some MCT oil or nut butter for healthy fats.

If you'd like to add in some fiber, I highly recommend using either hemp seeds, flax seeds or chia seeds.

How to make a strawberry banana smoothie

Add all of the fruit to the blender first, followed by the liquids.

If are you including add-ins, add those to the blender as well.

Blend on high for 30 seconds to 1 minute until smooth and creamy throughout.

Pour into serving glasses and enjoy.

Substitution Questions

  • I do recommend using vanilla extract and a pinch of salt, as it helps all the flavors pop, but if you don't have them both, don't sweat it!
  • Instead of using frozen strawberries, you can use another frozen berry.
  • Use any dairy-free milk or regular milk... just make sure it doesn't have added sweetener or the smoothies will turn out too sweet.

Do you put ice in smoothies?

I do not put ice in my smoothies.

Instead, I use frozen fruit. Ice can make smoothies too watered down and slushy or sludge-like instead of smooth and creamy.

How many servings is this smoothie?

Honestly, I would say 1-2.

It truly depends on whether you are enjoying it as a drink or as more of a meal replacement.

If you are adding in fat, fiber, and protein, I definitely think this would be more like 2 servings.

As is, I can definitely enjoy this as one giant smoothie! 😉

See below on how to make it a meal replacement.

Is a strawberry banana smoothie healthy?

It can be, absolutely yes.

I highly recommend adding in fat, fiber, and protein if it's going to be more of a meal replacement and not just a snack.

For fat, I recommend using MCT oil or a creamy nut butter.

If adding fiber, you can use chia seeds, flax seeds or hemp seeds.

For protein, I love adding in collagen protein because it's unflavored and doesn't change the taste / texture of the smoothie at all.
