Recipe for Date Paste
A simple and natural recipe for date paste made with just dates and water. This easy homemade sweetener is perfect for baking, smoothies, oatmeal, and more.

Ingredients
- 1 cup pitted Medjool dates about 125g
- 1 cup warm water
Instructions
- If your dates are dry or firm, place them in a bowl and cover with hot water. Let sit for 10-20 minutes to soften.
- Drain the dates, keeping the soaking water. Add dates to blender or food processor.
- Add ½ cup warm water (use the soaking water)
- Blend until smooth. You will have to stop and scrape down the sides several times. Add additional water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency. You might use up to 6 additional tablespoons.
- Transfer to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Date paste is a natural sweetener made by blending whole dates with water. Unlike refined sugar, it retains fiber and nutrients, giving it a more balanced sweetness and a subtle caramel-like flavor.
